Irish crochet with a modern twist

For years I have been admiring Irish crochet!
the way all this roses, leaves and other motifs are crocheted and then attached to each other.....
Since my health is not that good nowadays, I spend a lot of time just sitting..
well, not just sitting in an idle way, I have been gathering information and knowledge about this form of crochet.

two weeks ago I started, with the silk yarn I have in stash.
I realized white would not really work for me, so I paint the motifs I crochet, and the yarn for the ground I paint in skeins.
So I have control over each color on each place!

For the photo I took it of the groundfabric to look to it, and I really like it!

Because I use silk, and don't work it too tight, it really gets a flow what will make it very suitable for a top!

4 seasons challenge

This is my contribution to the challenge organized by Myra Wood.
52 participants show their interpretation of the 4 seasons, mainly freeform crochet, but several other techniques are used.
you can see them here

I chose just one season, summer.
For the background I used my new embellisher, and crochet.
the cottage was done by machine, crosstitched embroidery. The cottage is pure imagination, digitized by me.
For the trees and flowers mainly freeformcrochet, and some needlefelted

my entry at OEQC

A few weeks ago I entered a quilt in an international contest, the Open European Quilt Contest!

There was a theme,' magic', and I made this quilt especial for this occasion.

My second quiltcontest ever, and it really showed I wasn't aware of the fact that there were no "wild"quilts ,but mine......

I didn't get any ribbon ofcourse, but the distributor of Aurifil , Anita from Nitidesign, reward me for the 'most remarkable quilt'!!!
It was painted, hand and machinequilted , handapplication(the tree)and had many threedimensional parts, what doesn't show in the picture.
Ansje Prooper made this great picture of my piece, she was for the 4th time in a row winner in the advanced-category!
