Myths and fairytales,a freeform crochetchallenge

http://www.freeformcrochet.com/

This year we did again a freeform-crochet challenge!
Myths and fairytales were the chosen subject, I chose for the Greek Myth of Icarus.
It was a real challenge to me to give the idea of a flying person......

And there is a wonderfull book at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2241770

Daedalus, an architect and builder, created a Labyrinth for King Minos to contain the Minotaur (half man, half bull). But Daedalus, and his son, Icarus were imprisoned in the palace of Knossos, Crete, by King Minos because Daedalus had given Minos’ daughter, Ariadne a clew (a ball of string) to help Theseus (who was Minos’ enemy) defeat the Minotaur.

Daedalus attempted to escape with Icarus by making two pairs of wings from wax and feathers. Daedalus told Icarus not to fly too high or too low because the sun would melt his wings and the sea would make his wings damp. But Icarus was exhilarated with the thrill of flying, and, ignoring his fathers’ warnings, carelessly flew higher and higher. The sun melted the wax on his wings. Icarus kept flapping his wings but realized too late that all his feathers had gone and he was only flapping his bare arms. The boy fell into the sea and drowned.
