October 29th,weddingday Adri en Ype

Today is our weddinganniversary.... the 32nd
And the 10th anniversary my husband is so missed
But sure a day to remember!
And a dress to remember.....

October 29,1976.
On August 31, I bought the yarn and started crocheting.
The day before the wedding it was completed in a little less than 2 months.
The little cap I crocheted using a pattern of a fur cap from a magazine of 1953, thatI accidentally crossed.

My mother crocheted the upper part of the dress and made a dark green lining,
she made a little bag of the same material using an old silver ornament, that was used in the 1800's by an early relative.
It was part of the official Frisian costumes of that times. At that time we didn't know your custom of something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Only the blue thing was missing because I also borrowed a pair of crocheted gloves of my MIL. I did not wear them. My shoes had the same colour of the lining of the dress and the colour of my husband 's suit was the same too."

Exhibition!

Journals in Picture by the Journal Quilting Group : AFIER

Given the succes of this exhibition last year in Groningen it will be held again between 14 March on the 11th of April 2009 in the museum Het Leids Wevershuis in Leiden.
The exhibition is a collection of quilts which portrey the visualization of journal entries on the scale of A-4 paper.
Another 20 larger quilts will also be displayed.
Apart from the size a journal quilt should visualize something from the creators life that would appear in their personal diary.

The quilts have been made by a group of about 20 quilters using various techniques apart from only needlework.
Beads, paper, tyvek and even rusty nails are just some examples of the materials used.

In the weekends during the exhibition several demonstrations will be given on topics such as fabric printing and punching with the embellisher machine, a method of making felt with a big variety of fabrics. For more details about the group go to:
